The Saskatchewan Revitalization Project
Addressing the Critical Housing Shortage in Saskatoon
The Saskatchewan Revitalization Project is an inventive model of development in the City of Saskatoon, the second largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada. Saskatoon is projecting a shortage of 21,225 dwellings within the next 8-years. In its first phase of development, the project will help to close that gap, by refurbishing 263 houses into modern high-star energy rated homes, which will then be made available for purchase or lease. Phase two of the Saskatchewan Revitalization Project, commencing in 2024, will deliver 175 new student housing units. This will increase Saskatoon’s student housing availability by 9%. And the final phase of the Saskatchewan Revitalization Project, aims to create a self-reliant community by installing two unique eco-technologies – a vertical farm and a green energy source – to increase access to fresh produce and decrease reliance on Saskatoon’s energy grid.
